Ankle boots are always popular in the winter and this year’s look is to pair them with cosy thick patterned tights. This winter there are lots of different styles to choose from and fabrics too. Colour-wise forget boring black and brown - think red and hot pink and even glitter boots for parties!
Let’s take a look at five of the latest must-have styles for this season.
1. Flat Boots
Comfortable and stylish. As well as with jeans, this season boots with midi skirts or long floral dresses is also popular. They also look great with over-sized jumpers and leggings or skinny jeans. If you opt for a pair with pointed toes make sure you buy the correct size for ultimate comfort. Remember to check if they are water-proof or snow proof too.
2. Heeled
Lots of different styles to choose from, from buckle boots, suede western style with fringes, retro lace-ups and sturdy riding styles. If you don’t get on well with high heels some types have kitten heels and don’t forget Cubans for a sturdier choice.
3. Decorated and Embroidered
New for this season and in lots of different colours and patterns they can transform a plain outfit and turn it into party wear. For evenings out straight after work choose a bright colour and match to your bag and accessories for a glamorous look without the need to change your outfit. Fabrics vary from suede or leather to velvet. Boots that are embroidered or embellished with a bit of sparkle are perfect for the party season.
4. Sock Boots
So called as from the front to the ankle these are made of stretchy fabric, with the foot made of a sturdier textile. Choose stiletto or kitten heels and pointed toes. Not intended for rough weather wear! Sparkly ones are great for parties.
5. Biker Boots
These are always a winner especially if you like your outfit to have a bit of edge. They toughen up a floral dress like nothing else and also work equally well with jeans.
Look after your boots and when choosing check that any attached decorations such as beads and sequins (usually on fabric types) are firmly fixed. To keep their shape use shoe trees. In the case of suede, leather and man-made textiles use a waterproof spray protector and spray after each use.
