If you think denim is only for jeans and maybe jackets, because this season its everywhere!  Coloured denim has been really popular in recent years, but this summer it’s all about classic blue denim. Here are our top five picks…

1.    Dresses
Skater or shirt-waister styles dresses in lightweight denim are a great way to freshen up your wardrobe this summer.  Denim blue looks great with white or red accessories.

2.    Jackets
Denim jackets were popular in the nineties but this time round there are several key styles, from short and fitted to big and slouchy. A big bonus is the easy way you can just put a denim jacket in your bag without it creasing too much. Ideal for holidays and travelling. Probably best worn with a skirt, leggings, or trousers not made of denim – unless you love double denim!

3.    Skirts
On the catwalk a floor-length version was big news. Shorter versions can be great if long skirts aren't for you. A classic button-thru A-line is probably is probably the look to go for. Wear with a white t-shirt and strappy sandals for a real summery look.

4.    Culottes and Shorts
With a slim-line shirt and in a loose but fitted style these can look really good. Lauren Bacall and Katherine Hepburn made them popular in the 50’s and 60’s. Wear with flats though, not high-heels!

5.    And Finally - Jeans!
Bad news for all of us that love skinny jeans. More relaxed fits are popular this summer.  Look after your denim - don’t wash too often and always on a cold wash. Never tumble-dry, as it damages the elastin in the fabric. This will mean several years of wear.
