Some of our favourite looks for this spring are inspired by the styles from the fifties. Post-war fashion was all about feminine figures and celebrating a womanly look. Vintage but not old-fashioned or matronly you’ll love this look which will be everywhere this summer. Here are our top four vintage looks to help you choose your new outfits and get us in the mood for those balmy summer days.

Tea Dresses
Pretty and versatile for all occasions. Fabrics are cool and cotton and in pretty floral prints and designs and in bright colours. Unlike skater styles, which are fitted on the bust with a defined waist which leads to a hip-skimming full skirt, tea dresses have a straighter skirt and a more demure look. Hemlines are below the knee or midi-length. Often styles are buttoned to the waist, and with a small neat collar.
Blouses
Again fitted and sometimes with a pussy bow, which is very popular this summer, wear with a fitted skirt to give a slender look. Short sleeved or long sleeved and in cream and white they are a change from loose shirts and sweatshirts. Again buttoned and with a small collar a blouse is a useful separate, particularly for workwear.
Knitted Cardigans and Shrugs
Forget baggy loose knitwear and think fitted and shaped. Great to wear over dresses and buttoned-up with a mid-length skirt. And essential at this time of year, while the weather is still cold.
Dungarees
Very popular in fifties fashions, and whilst not to everyone’s taste they are really comfortable. Forget denim workwear, these are made from soft fabrics, and in muted maroons and petrol blues. Wear with a blouse or fitted jumper underneath.
