It’s that time of year again.  Christmas is over, the presents have been unwrapped, the Christmas cake eaten and now it’s time to spend any vouchers you’ve been given for Christmas.  This time of year, it’s easy to talk yourself into buying things just because they are a bargain in the sale, but if you spend your vouchers wisely you can end up with pieces you will wear again and again.
1. A Special Dress for Parties
It’s always good to have a go-to outfit in your wardrobe for special occasions.  Choose something that fits you well and makes you feel good when you put it on. Perhaps something a bit bolder than you would normally choose.

2. A Cosy Oversized Jumper
Comfy oversized jumpers and cardigans are proving popular this season, and they are perfect for wearing over other layers when the weather gets really chilly. With several styles and collar types such as roll neck, funnel neck and cowl neck there’s something for everyone. Statement sleeves are loose from the elbow and long to keep wrists extra warm. In a range of bright jewel colours and textures knitwear is a great gift to buy and receive.

3. Thick Patterned Tights
Another look straight from the catwalk you’ll love these even if you’re not usually a fan of tights. Thick and cosy and in a wide range of patterns and colours these can be quite pricey but will last ages if you look after them. Wash by hand and mend any holes as soon as you spot them. With crazy colourful patterns and designs they can transform a plain black dress or skirt into party-wear and make a change from trousers and leggings.

4. A Large Slouchy Hand-Bag
Handbag styles do tend to be a personal choice but a large soft bag which you use for all those extras and bits of shopping too is a real asset, especially if it has a shoulder strap. Available in leather, man-made and fabric choose a colour which is maybe a bit different to your normal choice. This season’s fabric bags come with embroidery and patterned designs and in lovely colours.

5. A Chunky Necklace and Dangly Earrings
This season’s jewellery is perfect for parties and ideal to brighten up a plain outfit. Citrus colours and bold beads look great with black and navy and earrings are dangly and attention grabbing.
