Autumn can be a drab time of year, but this season there are lots of bright colours to cheer us up! So, here’s our guide to the new top looks in the shops and on-line now.

Red for Anything and Everything!
Red may not be your usual colour choice but you don’t need to wear it head to toe. Red looks great with dark grey, khaki, white and of course black. A red coat will always go with last years’ black boots and accessories, unless you fancy a pair of bright scarlet stiletto heeled boots. A red outfit always makes you the centre of attention, and can be a colour that really boosts your confidence.

Fancy Tights
With dresses and skirts popular this season as a change from trousers, which have become a kind of day to day uniform, thick tights in many colours and patterns will be a top trend this winter. Ideal for giving one outfit several different looks and your legs will be toasty warm. These thicker ones will last well, won’t ladder like normal tights and can be worn with boots and shoes. Hand wash and dry naturally. Opt for crazy patterns, bold colours and embellishments.

Cosy Coats

Over-sized and cosy, this years’ styles will mean you can wear plenty of layers underneath. Midi or maxi length, and in thick fluffy fabrics, however skimpy your dress underneath, you’ll be warm when you leave. The puffa coat is making a comeback and for a casual occasion they are really warm and light to wear, and washable.

Knitwear

If you like the vintage style, short fitted cardis are great as an extra layer over a tea dress on a cold day. If you are going for a more casual look, thick roomy jumpers have overtaken fitted styles with extra-long sleeves and slouchy necklines, with embroidered flowers and patterns. A popular look this season is a chunky knit with a and this new casual way of dressing means you can wear over thinner dressier layers for evenings out. Chunky knits always look good with midi skirts and jeans.

Thigh-High Boots

Boots are longer with lots of over-the knee styles around. Choose cowboy boots or Doc Martins if you prefer a shorter style. High heeled brocade boots with embroidered designs are one of our favourite looks this season. It’s easy to transform a plain outfit with some colourful footwear. As for accessories, bags are slouchy and oversized meaning you can accommodate everything in one bag.
