So your best pal has given you a lovely jumper in your favourite colour and it’s a perfect fit but it’s so itchy, every time you wear it. We tried this old fashioned remedy and it works a treat!
- Mix together a bowl of cold water and a few tablespoons of white vinegar. Turn sweater inside out and submerge in water. Leave for fifteen minutes then drain.
- While still damp massage it with a good quality hair conditioner and leave to set for fifteen minutes.
- Rinse out in cold water and press into shape. Leave to dry flat on a towel.
- When dry fold neatly and place in a zip top plastic bag. Put in freezer and leave over night and hey presto! In the morning it won’t itch anymore.
Love the present but not fit? If you’re good at sewing get your needle and thread out and alter it. If you’re not good at sewing, a local seamstress or even a dry cleaner can often take clothes in fairly cheaply. Do your research and get a few price quotes – it’s often not as expensive as you might expect, well worth it if you like the garment.
3.Love The Present – Hate The Colour?
Dye it! Obviously not always possible to do depending on the fabric and colour, so first do your research to see if it’s possible. Nowadays dyeing is easy as you can do it in your washing machine.
Finally, don’t judge by first appearances- what you didn’t like on Christmas day may be worth trying on before you give up on it. Things usually look better on your body than on the hanger!
